Some weeks ago, a German marketing company from Berlin had contacted me for ads on my supportsite as also for laying connections to the BCHQ. They were doing the job for the biggest bookseller in Germany, Thalia. Now, the contact to BCHQ were finally laid at the Anniversary Convention in Washington DC 2 weeks ago, as for the ads on the supportsite, I declined as I don’t want to strike down those visitors who are interested in BookCrossing.
Yesterday, BookCrosser SerendipityN had discovered a new BookCrossingpage on the website of Thalia, explaining their campaign of releasing 1000 books in the next few weeks. These books are already registered at BookCrossing.com and have a nice label and are packed in a releasebag. The countdown on the website discovers every day at 14:00 which branch will release 25 books that day.
Although getting your hands on such a book seems still to be… an experience. As Thaliomee explains in the German Forum, the staff seems not to be aware of the campaign, at least not all of them. But if you finally find the one who knows, you’ll get a chance to pick a book from a box. Probably this will be better over the time, still it seems that at the moment, only BookCrossers and those knowing it from the website, can go for it. Beside this, Thalia has also sent some books by mail to German Bloggers who blog about books.
I see this as a great campaign which hopefully will boost the German BookCrossing Community. And those of you, who
found got such a book, please consider to make a journal entry right away – as this will give the needed feedback to the bookseller to let them see that this campaign was a successful one.
I you find such a book, feel free to tell me your experience in the comments or the german forum.
